This website started in 2015 as a way of finding a little sunshine when the clouds in my head wouldn’t clear. Somewhere between bug bites, gas station burritos, and sleeping in the back of a truck, I found something that actually helped: adventure.
Where It’s Going
Now this website has grown into a mix of stories and guides from trails, truck beds, and trips across the world. From Florida beaches to European castles to bumpy backroads, It Started Outdoors is here to share the real side of adventure. The wrong turns, the laughter, and those views that make it all worth it.

Each destination is carefully researched to provide you with reliable, well-rounded information that inspires and guides your next journey.
First-Hand Experience
We only write about things that we have experienced in person. We cannot stand travel blogs that talk about “Top Ten Things You Need to do in _______,” but the writer has never done any of those things.

You won’t find any stock photos here. All the images that appear on this site are real photos captured by us. No A.I. slop allowed.
Honesty
We will tell you when things suck. We aren’t sponsored and (unfortunately) no one pays us to write about our experiences. We do it for the love of the game. We have nothing to gain or lose from what we write, so there is no reason not to be completely honest.
